| It may officially be "off-season" for Green White, but we sure do have a lot of things going on... Green White Night at the Red Stars (June 20) The Chicago Red Stars are having a special Green White night on June 20th, including a meet and greet with former Green White goalkeeper (and current Red Stars keeper) Michelle Dalton! First Kick Academy (July) A great program for kids ages 4-7, on select Wednesdays this summer (July 1, 8, 29, Aug 5) from 6-7pm at Metro Majewski Park. Run by our Director of Coaching Adam Howarth. Cost is only $40. (Register here) Monday Night Soccer (July) This July Green White will be opening up our fields on Monday nights from 6pm to 7:30pm for free play! Trainers will supervise. Cost is only $20 for all four weeks. Open for ages 8--16, boys and girls, Green White or non-Green White. (Register here) German Soccer Camp– (July 27- July 31) Trainers from Germany are coming for a week to offer special training to Green White players and their friends. This camp will be open to everyone and will involve elements of cultural German heritage too. Need not be a Green White player to participate. Ages 8-15. Cost is $100. (Register here) The Stefan Zimmer Memorial Men's Tournament (August 1-2) Green White has been staging our summer men's soccer tournament at Majewski Park for many years, but a few years ago it was renamed the Stefan Zimmer Memorial Tournament in honor of Mr. Green White, Stefan Zimmer. Zimmer wasn't just our long-time coach and player (and member of the Illinois Soccer Hall of Fame), he was also the man that made the famous sausages we served at our summer tournament. Mr. Zimmer passed away a few years ago, but his memory lives on through this tournament (and so does his recipe for those sausages--now made by a new generation of Green White members). If you're a soccer fan who wants to come out and enjoy a cold beverage, some good German food, and a day in the sunshine, we highly recommend this tournament. A good time is had by all who attend. GWYSC Team Camp – (Week of August 10 – August 14) Green White travel teams will train (as a team) with DOC and select coaches on Team tactics. Each team will have 3 -75 minute sessions – Last Session a scrimmage with another team. Open only to Green White travel players. Cost is only $50. (Register here) |
