FAQ for New Parents

Green White Prospective Parent/Player FAQ

Unlike many of the soccer clubs in the area, Green White is a not-for-profit organization.  We put every dime we receive back into the club to pay for coaches, fields, uniforms, referees, etc.  Our goal is not to make money; it is to provide a great soccer experience for the community.

Are you considering starting travel soccer for the first time?  Here are some questions we know you probably have!  For any questions not answered here, please visit our Contact Us page for a listing of our Youth Board Contacts.

Q:  What are the differences between the travel and recreational soccer programs?

A:  The focus of the travel soccer program is to provide professional coaching, highly competitive play, and enhanced skill development.  Under the guidance of our USSF licensed coaching staff, soccer development follows the GWSC curriculum.  Each practice session is scripted to follow these guidelines to optimize player development. Visit our Programs page for more information.

Q:  What is included in my registration fees?

A:  Our program designs vary as they are tailored based on age group and competition level. Visit our Programs page for more information.

Q:  How many days per week and for how long do the teams practice?

A:  Our program designs vary as they are tailored based on age group and competition level. Visit our Programs page for more information.

Q:  When are the games?

A:  Games are typically played on Saturday and Sundays. Visit our Programs page for more information.

Q: We've accepted our invitation. Now what?

A:  You will receive an e-mail from the Travel Director with a link to our registration page.  Everyone must register through the website, and normally the various payment plans are outlined there.  The Travel Director may also ask you for additional information they need to register with the league.  This may include a picture and signatures on some waivers.

Q: Where can I get information on the rules of the game?

A:  For a basic understanding of the game, download our Soccer Guide. For league rules, click on the links below:

  • Boys - YSSL (Young Sportsment's Soccer League)
  • Girls - IWSL (Illinois Women's Soccer League)

Q: Who will be our contact person?

A:  Once teams are formed, a volunteer team manager will provide regular team information and communications via the SportsEngine app. If you have any questions prior to that, visit our Contact Us page for a listing of our Youth Board Contacts.
